1972 Jaguar

Owner: -  Neal Fogle -- Marshalltown, IA

Agent: Heather Loney, Independent Insurance Services - Marshalltown, IA

Mr. Fogle writes:

"Neal was a Jaguar XKE lover since his teen age years spent in France. Jaguar is an English automobile. A few years ago Ford purchased the Jaguar Company.

In early 1980's Neal noticed a beautiful XKE in the church parking lot where he attended in Marshalltown, IA. He waited around until the owner, an elderly gentleman and his wife came out. Neal introduced himself and tucked the memory in the back of his brain. This gentleman purchased the car new in Cedar Rapids, IA and kept it in a heated garage all of its life.

Starting in 1987 Neal started yearly visits to the gentleman, a local insurance salesman, to show pictures of other XKEs he had admired, discussed this car and tried to purchase it.

In 1997, the gentleman had a stroke and his wife called the church to locate this interested party. She had forgotten his name. After several negotiations and soul searching about spending the money, Neal purchased the 1972 on his 47th birthday in 1997. Neal has always kept it in a garage. It has never been in the rain since Neal purchased it, and not driven in late fall until spring.

The car is in exceptional condition, all original. It is a V12, automatic and has air conditioning, which still works great. This car only has 68000 original miles on it and runs very well. Its color is an unusual color also. Most XKEs were red or green, and the last ones produced were black. As opposed to small sports cars, the ride in this marvel is grand. Jaguar ceased to make the XKE models in 1974, at which time Neal would have loved to buy one, but his college career kept him from expending the $15000 at the time. The last car on the showroom seen by Neal in 1974, a yellow convertible is now worth $60K to $70K.

Neal states the Internet and or EBay are wonderful places to see models of these what is often referred to as the "sexiest car ever". The early models sell for as much as $150K, after complete restoration. Neal provided some parts for a friend in France who invested well over $40K to restore a left hand drive early model.
