1958 Corvette
Owner - Roger Hicks, North Canton, OH
Roger writes:
"The 1958 Corvette was new when I was a junior in high school. It had been introduced with much fan-fare for it's restyled body and interior. It was 9" longer, wider, had a new dash, dual headlights, louvered hood and twin chrome spears on the trunk lid. The 1958 Corvette was well received and 9,168 cars were sold, a 50% increase over the 1957.
I wanted a 58 Vette from the first time I saw them but never really expected to own one. A good friend of mine, Jim Dieble had spent several years doing a professional body off restoration but couldn't find time for the final assembly. When he told me he was going to sell it my reply was, "If you have to sell it, I have to buy it". I didn't need another project due to an already overload of antique classics in the garage, but vowed to find room for one more. It was the right choice with several first place trophies to prove it. As a token of husbandly love, I presented it to my wife for her to drive and show. Now If I could only make room for one more!
